Cassia Bluetooth Router: Bluetooth range extension
Cassia announced what it calls the “world’s first Bluetooth router.” The Cassia Bluetooth router uses a proprietary technology developed by a former Cisco and Aruba executive that provides Bluetooth range extension to 1,000 feet in open space and can control up to 22 devices simultaneously.
With the growing list of Bluetooth devices coming into the smart home – from speakers to light bulbs to door locks – the Cassia Bluetooth range extension may become an important technology. To learn more about Bluetooth IoT innovations Connect with Cassia.
Cassia Networks series of patents are focused on bringing ROI to the center of Internet of Things (IOT) connectivity. Specifically, Cassia’s patented Bluetooth range extension patents enable its long-range Bluetooth routers to connect at up to 1,000 feet. Moreover, Cassia’s Bluetooth routers also deliver one-to-many Bluetooth IoT by connecting with up to 40 end devices at one time. Additionally, the Cassia Access Controller (AC) delivers big data power to IoT applications.
Cassia continues to innovate in the Bluetooth IoT space. Recently, the Cassia E1000 Bluetooth IoT Edge Router started delivering innovative edge processing capabilities. The E1000 delivers computing power to the edge (aka, fog computing) enabling third-party applications to run on the router. In turn, edge processing capabilities reduces latency to the cloud, the cost of data, and allows for contextual responses in real-time.
Bluetooth range extension fundamentally changes the way people think about Bluetooth. Importantly, the Bluetooth range extension occurs without any change to the end device. Previously, use cases were hampered by the traditional 10-30-meter connectivity capabilities of Bluetooth. Now, Bluetooth range extension coupled with one-to-many connectivity, and edge processing capabilities is bringing Bluetooth closer and closer to the center of IoT connectivity.
Coupled with Bluetooth’s existing benefits – low-cost, low power requirements, and worldwide standardization – the addition of Bluetooth range extension and one to many connectivity means new and creative avenues for savvy entrepreneurs and designers.
